Waterford
is a coastal county, which stretches from the estuary of the river Suir
in the east, to Youghal in the west. The county is bordered to the south
by the Atlantic ocean for approximately 145 kilometres and has 49 beaches,
among which are numbered some of Ireland's premier tourist resorts, such
as Tramore, Clonea, Dunmore East and Ardmore.
Dungarvan is the county town - Not Waterford itself. Dungarvan has seen
a housing boom in recent years and the Clancy Construction development,
on the former Glanbia site, will service the needs of a young, vibrant
population. This ambitious development, on a 40-acre town centre site,
includes a major shopping centre, multiplex cinema, medical centre, crèche,
retail, residential and commercial units. The Government relocation of
Ordnance Survey Ireland to Dungarvan, bringing with it 300 additional
jobs will add to the "boom".
