Moving to Ireland

THE IRISH IN BRITAIN

The Irish in Britain - including those of Irish descent - make up a sizeable portion of the population.
These days with the Irish economy in the doldrums - the movement of people to Britain from Ireland has increased again.
Many of the Irish Clubs and Gaelic football clubs set up by the Irish who came over in the 50's have been shut down - but there are still a few that have been kept going by their children and grandchildren. Irish culture is still going strong in the UK. See more about Moving to the UK here.

Irish dancing is probably more popular in the UK than it is in Ireland - with competitions all over the country every week .

The Irish Post newspaper was close to being shutdown in 2012 - but it was saved and is still printed every week. The Irish World is another weekly paper aimed at the Irish in Britain.
