The
Irish in Britain - including those of Irish descent - make up a sizeable
portion of the population.
These
days with the Irish economy in the doldrums - the movement of people
to Britain from Ireland has increased again.
Many of the Irish Clubs and Gaelic football clubs set up by the Irish
who came over in the 50's have been shut down - but there are still
a ew that have been kept going by their children and grandchildren.

Irish dancing is probably more popular in the UK than it is in Ireland
- with competitions all over the country every week .
The Irish Post newspaper was close to being shutdown in 2012 - but
it was saved and is still printed every week. The Irish World is another
weekly paper aimed at the Irish in Britain.
