The choice of dial-up ISP's or Internet Service Providers is growing all the time in Ireland.
Eircom - being the major (ex state) telecoms provider - has the bulk of the customers by default.

BT Ireland is probably the next largest competitor - and has very similar dial up prices.
The average "anytime" flat rate is around €25 per month - but it is falling
But beware - there are limits on the usage - about 5hrs a day on Eircom.net and slightly more with BT and UTV.

Digiweb is one of the new comers in Ireland - and they can provide internet access as well as phone lines.

Broadband in Ireland is becoming more widespread. Many of the major cities now have asdl or cable broadband access.
Wireless broadband is also available in many parts of the country. There are loads of different pricing options and speeds.

Make sure you compare like for like when looking at broadband prices. Check the transfer rate - is it 64 or 128 or even better - 256.
Check if there is a minimum contract length and check too if there are installation or connection fees or modem charges. Check on the dowload limits too.

The Irish government's broadband site gives details of providers and prices. Expect to pay around €40 Euro per month for 128kbs . The same website will allow you to locate a broadband provider for the town where you live.
