Average house price €250,000 in 2010 - down 20% in the year .
Galway city experienced one of its worst property years in memory in 2010 with prices falling by one fifth on average and some categories such as second-hand three and four-bed semis shedding 27%.
This comes on top of a similar drubbing of values in 2009.
Galway City house prices rose more than most parts of the country in the boom and was one of the last places to start falling . Investors stayed out thanks to plumeting rents which fell by 10% in the first six months of last year alone. Next year should be better — rents are already starting to recover.
