The
price of flights to Ireland from the UK have become cheaper in recent
years. The newer discount airlines such as Ryanair
and Easyjet offer a budget service from the UK to several Irish
airports including Knock, Dublin, Shannon and Belfast.
Aer
Lingus
are competing well with the no frills airlines too. Many airlines offer
lower prices for online booking.
The price of flights may look very cheap initially - but look out for
the taxes and admin fees which bring the costs up. Credit card fees also
can also add to the final price especially on Ryanair. Ryanair recently
started charging extra for checked in luggage - so don't forget to add
that on when comparing prices of flights.
Aer
Lingus used to be seen as an expensive airline - but the prices
on Aer Lingus flights are fairly competitive - and they fly to Irish airports
in Dublin, Belfast, Shannon, Cork and Knock from UK airports such as Heathrow
, Gatwick , Birmingham, Manchester, Blackpool.
Aer Lingus baggage charges between the UK and Ireland are £10 or
€12 Euro per one way flight all year round - for bags upto 20kg.
By comparison - a Ryanair flight in July or August will cost you €30
for a 20kg suitcase one way ! (Ryanair do charge a lower fee of €25
for 20kg other times of the year and €15 for bags upto 15kg.
