Online DVD rental in Ireland is a relatively new concept. It is a great idea especially in rural areas where the nearest DVD rental shop might be 5 miles away and the choice of films might not be that great.
There is now just 1 main online DVD rental company in Ireland - after Moviestar was taken over by Screenclick.

Screenclick was established in 2001 and has the following price structure.
Lite : 2 DVD a month 7.99 (Max 2 a month)
Bronze : 12.99 1 DVD at a time - unlimited per month
Silver is 17.99 p/m (2 DVDs at a time)
Gold is €24.99 p/m (3 DVDs at a time)
Platinum is €31.99 p/m (4 DVDs at a time)

You can join Screenclick for a FREE 2 week trial to see how you get on. If you don't like the service just cancel it.

With DVD rental services you are dependent on the Irish postal service. With no weekend postal deliveries in Ireland - it could be dufficult to get three DVDs a week - but 2 should be no problem. If you expect to watch just one film a week at the weekend you probably will get by on the "one DVD at a time" from Screenclick at 12.99 per month. You would easily get 8 DVds a month on that plan - working out at just €1.70 a movie. Some rental shops are doing dvds for €4 a night - but you have to make 2 trips to get it and bring it back. You can't be late with the online rental services - no late return charges or fees ever again.
