CAVAN:
Co Cavan 2010
Average price of a new home: €125,000 Average price of a second-hand home:
€125,000
2010 was a tough year in Co Cavan, with more than 200 jobs lost at Quinn
Direct . Prices are down 10% in the once thriving commuter town and it
is the new smaller builds that show the biggest drops — new one-bedroom
apartments are down 16%, while new two-beds are down 26%. New three-beds
didn’t lose their value as much with smaller quantities of stock for sale
and these fell by 7% and 9%. A strong student population has also had
a positive effect on rental demands. The second-hand market is in need
of a boost, however. Second-hand three-bed townhouses fell by 10% while
second-hand three-bedroom semis in a town dropped by 14%.
